Village government is the lowest level of formal regional government in Indonesia.
The village government has the authority to implement decrees or regulations that create a legal obligation on the part of residents in the village area.
Allocation of the village development budget provided by central government, and formulation of the village development plan are also the responsibilities of village governments.
Indonesia has recently mandated that village governments observe UNDP Sustainable Development Goals when developing policy.
Focusing on SDG 14 – Life Below Water, JBS works closely with village governments to help enshrine SDGs in local legislation
