Seagrass Expedition Lite

In the lite expedition package, you will experience the full expedition in a nutshell. You will learn how to conduct seagrass surveys, contribute to a long term database collection, while also having an immersive interaction with the local community. Last but not least, you will enjoy the amazing food from local villagers!

Of course you are not going to implement all of the scientific surveys like the full expedition, but you’re still going to do a full-single survey, using a scientifically approved method. This will make the collected data very useful in our conservation effort. The data collection will be conducted in Bahoi, Bulutui, and Tarabitan, and while at it, you can still have your fun dive once in a while.

Expedition cost is all inclusive of all meals, accommodation and diving equipment. Participants will be responsible for all costs prior to joining the expedition at Manado. 10% of expedition profit is directed to conservation initiatives.

Seagrass Expedition Lite Schedule

Please note that the intended schedule may need to be adjusted in cases of bad weather, participant illness or other unforeseen circumstances.

Week 1

Day 1 – Manado airport or hotel pickup, travel to Bahoi by car, welcome ceremony at Bahoi, and village orientation.

Day 2 – Expedition briefing (chosen method to be implemented depend on weather condition): BRUV and Seagrass spot-check data collection training and simulation.

Day 3 – BRUV and Seagrass spot-check data collection

Day 4 – BRUV and Seagrass spot-check data collection

Day 5 – BRUV and Seagrass spot-check data collection

Day 6 – Weekend break – Offer for excursion to nearby attraction

Week 2

Day 1 – Data analysis and management.

Day 2 – Data recap, interpretation, and short report writing

Day 3 – Presentation

Day 4 – Fun expedition trip.

Day 5 – Traveling back to Manado, Manado city tour, and drop off to the hotel or airport.

Optional activities on free days.

You can enjoy a fun dive, village tour, trekking, paddle boarding, learning Bahasa Indonesia, and probably teaching English to the local community if you will.

We can also take you to other villages such as Budo – to enjoy the mangrove night park, or to Gangga Island for a light hiking, diving, or just enjoying the island’s vibe.
