Wallacea Expeditions support local community based tourism operators in Bahoi village.
While on expedition, you will stay with a host family that is a member of the Bahoi Homestay Group.
The Bahoi Homestay Group is exclusively comprised of local homeowners and entrepreneurs. The group aims to provide sustainable livelihoods for their members, and thereby contribute to the economic development of their community.
In an effort to preserve the marine resources that local communities depend on, Bahoi Homestay Group members have also committed to directing 10% of their homestay profits to local marine conservation efforts.
The Bahoi Homestay Group works to ensure that homestay prices and services are standardised and reliable, and also provides a forum for mediation and resolution of internal conflicts.
The group actively monitors and evaluates members’ performance and adherence to standards, and provides guidance and mentoring based on your feedback.
To ensure that group members have an equal share of opportunity, JBS uses a fixed rotation of homestays to house expeditioners. JBS and the Homestay Group are always on hand to provide immediate support in the unlikely event of any problems at your accommodation.
Wallacea Expeditions are developed and delivered by PT Jelajah Buana Semesta (JBS), a division of YAPEKA.
10% of JBS profit is returned to community-led marine conservation organisations.
